Helen Hunt began television acting at age 10, and appeared in several made-for-TV movies through the 70's and early 80's. Hunt is best known for her work on the television show Mad About You, which ran from 1992 to 1999. About the same time that Hunt landed her Emmy-winning role as Jamie Buchman, movie roles began to follow. During the first half of the 90's, Hunt starred in such films as Mr. Saturday Night and Kiss of Death. The last half of the decade proved Hunt's most fruitful, with a lead role in the 1996 blockbuster Twister, which generated a whopping $241 million at the box office. The following year, Hunt earned an Oscar for Best Actress, for her role in the James Brooks film As Good as It Gets. |
