The women vying for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award include a pair of former winners in Frances McDormand and Dame Judi Dench. Among the international competition are Zhang Ziyi for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kate Winslet for Quills, and Catherine Zeta-Jones for Traffic.
