Best Picture

Among the contenders in this year's Best Picture race, both Traffic and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon earned respective Best Pic honors from New York and L.A. scribes. Quills snared recognition from the National Board of Review, and Erin Brockovich won over audiences and critics alike. Meanwhile, early darlings Almost Famous and Wonder Boys did fast fades at ticket counters, and Gladiator reigned supreme as the group's biggest box-office success.
