Based on the novel by Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees tells the story of young Lilly Owen. Following the death of her mother, she leaves her father and their South Carolina farm in search of the truth about her mother. Joined by her nanny Rosaleen, the two meet a trio of sisters who make their living by selling honey. Lily and Rosaleen are drawn into their mysterious world. The film is adapted and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.
